Vasyl Klymentyev
Vasyl Petrovich Klymentyev ((ウクライナ語:Василь Петрович Климентьєв), (ロシア語:Василий Петрович Климентьев); born 10 October 1943〔 (''Briefing on the prosecutor's office in search of a journalist'' ), Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ukraine) (21 August 2010)〕 in Bereka〔 (''For information about the missing main editor of the newspaper announced rewards'' ), dozor.kharkov.ua (17 August 2010)〕) was a Ukrainian investigative journalist and was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Novy Stil based in Kharkiv. He went missing in August 2010〔 and is presumed dead.〔(''Missing, presumed dead: disappearance of Ukrainian journalist deepens media fears'' ), The Guardian (8 September 2010)〕
Klymentyev was known for his investigations of corruption in the Kharkiv area. He disappeared on 11 August 2010.〔(Mohyliov: Case on disappearance of journalist Klymentyev at a final stage ), Kyiv Post (20 July 2011)〕 On 15 August 2010 the police opened an investigation on the presumption that it was first degree murder.〔(''Police draw blank on missing journalist'' ), Kyiv Post (2 September 2010)〕 As of November 2011 this investigation was continuing.〔(Inquiry into journalist Klymentyev's disappearance continues ), Kyiv Post (7 November 2011)〕
His disappearance has been compared to that of Georgiy Gongadze, an internet journalist murdered in 2000 for investigating corruption.〔 Media watchdogs have seen it as one of many signs of a deterioration in press freedom since the election of President Viktor Yanukovych in February 2010.〔(''A dangerous place for news'' ), The Moscow News (30 August 2010)〕〔(Concerns Mount About Press Freedom In Ukraine As Journalist Attacked ), Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (September 21, 2010)〕
